Same graphic was also featured on runway. Iconic collection presented in January of 1997 at Impasse De Mont-Louis, Paris. Raf's first runway show and considered his industry debut since he first began presenting collections through video in 1995. The collection was inspired by American college students and English schoolboys, and the presentation took place in a defunct discotheque filled with old cinema chairs. The models were completely street-cast and some are still a part of Raf's team today.
"The School Boy collection was about my own past but also my interest in English youth culture. It was a mixture of what I had when growing up with a Catholic education, and what I wasn’t allowed to listen to. I think you go back to these things because that’s the only way you can bury them. These references were there for the first seven years of my work, but I have become more abstract since then. The collection has my name now, but it’s not ‘me’ anymore. At that time it was, ‘me, me, me’.“ -Raf Simons in Another Man Magazine, No. 8, S/S2009.
