Alexander McQueen SS95 “The Birds” Tire track Roadkill Tank Top
Chest : 17.50 Inches
Length : 22.50 Inches
For his spring 1995 runway show, Lee drew inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Birds, in which a town is attacked by aggressive birds. McQueen combined this film reference with a reference to roadkill. Models walked down the runway in everything from feathers and bird prints (prints that would reappear in his retrospective A/W 2009 “Horn of Plenty” show), to dresses made of scotch tape and covered in tire marks, making them appear as if they have been run over the car.
